My name is Sam Porter, I am a Designer, Illustrator and all around fun guy living in Chicago, IL. It's likely that you've come to this site as a friend, fellow-artist, or future business partner. Welcome! As long as I can recall, art has been a very large part of my life. Everything from music to sculpture, analog or digital, performed or posed– I've always taken an interest in learning not only why art is made, but how. I attended Columbia College Chicago in 2010-2014, finishing with a BA in Art+Design. While at Columbia, I focused in many interdisciplinary arts such as printmaking, graphic design, bookbinding, papermaking and letterpress. Though I love making physical work, I am no stranger to the world of digital image making. I began exclusively in Graphic Design and have spent the past 3 years getting my feet wet in the physical art world. 

I take a lot of interest in the deeper meaning and function behind art and design. I try to incorporate as much "form and function" into my work as possible, tying all aspects of a design into the bigger picture, whether it's a website, a book series or an album design, I like to create a world that viewers can get lost inside and associate with what it represents. I think it's important to implement that on any project that I'm working on. 

Outside of design, I am an avid musician and traveller as well as a novice chef. In my spare time, I read books and straighten crooked picture frames. I like to write both words and music and get together with friends as frequently as possible for drinks, caffeinated or otherwise.
